There is alot of fear being push by the media about the swine flu, but as long you keep your immune system in top shape you shouldn't worry about it. Here is a list of the top nine simple and effective things you can do for yourself to prevent the flu.  Also a message from Congressman Paul.

1.  Avoid white sugar

2.  Exercise regularly

3.  Get adequate sleep

4.  Eat a healthy diet, especially omitting trans-fats (like margarine)

5.  Drink plenty of purified water daily (1 ounce for each 2 pounds that you weigh)

6.  Increase your intake of Omega-3 fatty acids (in fish oil)

7.  Sneeze and cough into the "crook" of your elbow

8.  Wash your hands.  The CDC states, "The most important thing you can do to keep from getting sick is to wash your hands"

9.  Get your nerve system checked by a good chiropractor regularly to ensure that your immune system can function at maximum capacity to protect you.

     Blair Upper Cervical Chiropractic is a conservative chiropractic procedure that corrects the position of the top vertebrae of the spine, called the Atlas (C1) and/or Axis (C2).  By correcting the tilt, shift or rotation of these vertebrae, the body is able to more overcome the affects or completely eliminate many different conditions.  Over 10 billion nerve fibers from the brainstem travel through the small opening in Atlas and flow down into the spinal column.  Because of the smallness of the opening and because of the close proximity at the Atlas to the brain stem, the Atlas if moved out of the position even a fraction of a degree, can result in two very serious problems.

     Atlas and/or Axis are out of their proper position, the head moves off center of the body. This creates body imbalance from head to toe due to the greater transference of body weight on one side of the body than the other.  If these vertebrae are also rotated out of position, they can twist the entire spinal structure, including the pelvis, causing one leg to become shorter than the other.

      The second serious result of an Atlas and/or Axis being out of position is the restriction When the or distortion of critical messages from the brain to all parts of the body.  Every cell, organ or tissue that is not receiving adequate nerve energy and communication from the brain will suffer and degenerate.  Over time, much damage can be incurred without a person ever being aware of it, since in many conditions, PAIN IS THE LAST SYMPTOM to occur to indicate that a problem exists. 

      The reposition of the Atlas vertebrae is done by hand with a specialized vertical drop-table.  A brisk thrust is given at the side of the neck as the Atlas is UN-LOCKED and neurological pressure is relieved from the brain stem and spinal cord.  There is NEVER any twisting of the neck and/or cracking of the spine!

      This procedure simply restores body balance and brain-to-body communication so that organs, muscles, and tissues can resume normal functioning.

There are some people that dream about losing weight or being healthy but never do anything about it. It's usually at the bottom of their list. Until something tragic happens like cancer or a heart attack. Then all of a sudden health becomes a priority. Why wait for something like that to happen. You need to FOCUS and make your health a TOP PRIORITY. It doesn't matter how much money you have, it doesn't matter how much power you have in the world.      A study that ran in the USA Today on October 1, 2004, opened many people’s eyes to the epidemic of childhood obesity, revealing that a starling nine million kids are now considered obese.

     Many health problems, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and arthritis that are linked to obesity are becoming widespread at younger and younger ages due to the childhood obesity epidemic.  Providing children with nutritious meals and snacks, in addition to setting guidelines and educating them on good nutrition, will put them on the right road to making healthy decisions as adults.  Most important, parents serve as role models to their children.  Eating right and exercising should be a natural occurrence in everyday family life.

“LIFE FORCE”

Nature always knows what to do, unless interfered with. Chiropractors only remove nerve interference. The nerve conducts LIFE from the brain to the cells, and the cells send messages back to the brain. If this conduction is interfered with, by the bones of the spine, LIFE will be withheld from that part of the spine all the way down the body. Example: Cut the nerve to your tooth, and it will get black and die. Cut the nerve to your finger, and it won’t function for it will die. From this example, you must see that the nerve conducts LIFE, and if interfered with by spinal bones, the tissue will die, or become Dis-eased.

Thus your symptoms are only warnings, and not the cause. To get well, the interference must be corrected so the intelligence within the body can take over, and heal the tissue from within.

Eating healthy on the road can often be difficult.  Discovery Health unveiled their list of the top 10 rules to eat well and maintain your health while traveling, including:

·        Pack your own food.  If you spend a lot of your time in your car, consider buying a small cooler.

·        Plan Ahead.  Before getting on a plane or train, eat a healthy breakfast.

·        Get the healthier menu items at fast food restaurants, such as grilled fish, chicken salad or a grilled chicken sandwich for lunch or dinner.

·        Avoid late night eating, Consuming calories late at night is an easy way to gain weight.

·        Watch your alcohol intake.  Keep to one glass of wine with meals, and avoid hard liquor.

·        Maintain your exercise regimen.
